# Voiceover & voice effects

> Change the narrator, tune the delivery, re-record single lines and transform the whole narration with free voice effects.

The voice carries most short-form videos, so Crealix gives you three levels of control: **who** speaks (the narrator), **how** each line is delivered (re-recording with tuning), and **what it sounds like** overall (voice effects).

## Change the narrator

Open **Voiceover** in the tool rail.

![The Voiceover panel with the voice library](https://mintcdn.com/crealix/IMW-nFsczZqF7L1x/images/app/v2/editor-voiceover-v2.jpg?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=IMW-nFsczZqF7L1x\&q=85\&s=042d3f294ed0c9482abe40414b2bd85e)

① Current narrator · ② Narration volume · ③ Search and filters · ④ Manage my voices · ⑤ Use a voice

1. The **current narrator (①)** is pinned at the top with their gender, style and language.
2. **Narration volume (②)** sets how loud the voice is in the mix, from 0 to 100%.
3. **Search (③)** by name, tone or language — for example *"deep"*, *"British"*, *"documentary"* or *"Spanish"*. **Filters** narrow the library by gender, age, accent, language and use case. The counter shows how many voices match (1,890 in total).
4. Press play on any voice to preview it, then click **Use (⑤)**. The selected voice shows **Selected**.
5. **Manage my voices (④)** opens [My Voices](https://docs.crealix.ai/workspace/my-voices.md), where you can clone your own voice or design a new one — it then appears in this list.

After you change the narrator, the **Scenes** list at the bottom of the panel shows which scenes still use the old recording. Re-record them from each scene's **Voice** row.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Changing the narrator doesn't re-record anything by itself — you decide which lines to regenerate, so you never spend credits by accident.

## Tune the delivery

The same tuning you saw in the creator is available whenever you re-record:

![Voice tuning with presets and sliders](https://mintcdn.com/crealix/IMW-nFsczZqF7L1x/images/app/v2/creator-voice-tuning.jpg?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=IMW-nFsczZqF7L1x\&q=85\&s=c1d8ab37a14213d1e21cd8df6c5a0130)

① Default profile for your topic · ② Presets · ③ Consistency, style intensity and speed

| Setting | What it changes | Tip |
| - | - | - |
| **Presets** | *Natural*, *Documentary*, *Dramatic* or *Energetic* in one click | Start here, then fine-tune. |
| **Consistency** | Expressive ↔ steady | Lower for emotional storytelling, higher for explainers. |
| **Style intensity** | Neutral ↔ character | Raise it for horror, comedy or character voices. |
| **Speed** | 0.9× to 1.2× | 1.05–1.1× works well for fast-paced Shorts. |

## Re-record a line

In **Scenes**, expand a scene and click **regenerate** next to its voice. You can:

* Edit the **text to speak** first — fix a word, add a pause with punctuation, or spell a name phonetically.
* Pick a **preset** and adjust **Consistency**, **Style intensity** and **Speed**.
* Preview, then generate.

Re-recording a scene costs **1 credit**. Crealix warns you when a scene's text or voice has changed since it was recorded, so audio and captions never drift apart.

> [!TIP]
>
> Want one voice for the narrator and another for each character? Formats with dialogue — [AI Dramas](https://docs.crealix.ai/formats/ai-dramas.md), [Talking Objects](https://docs.crealix.ai/formats/talking-objects.md), [AI Movies](https://docs.crealix.ai/formats/ai-movies.md) and [Fake Text Messages](https://docs.crealix.ai/formats/fake-text-messages.md) — give every character their own voice.

## Voice effects

Open **Voice FX** to transform the whole narration with one click. Voice effects are **free** and you can switch between them as often as you like.

![The Voice effects panel](https://mintcdn.com/crealix/IMW-nFsczZqF7L1x/images/app/v2/editor-voice-fx.jpg?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=IMW-nFsczZqF7L1x\&q=85\&s=93ee7af4794f1aa40184b66f8583d420)

① Selected effect · ② Pitch shift in semitones · ③ Apply

| Group | Effects |
| - | - |
| Basic | Normal, Helium (+10 st), Baby (+5 st) |
| Tone | Chipmunk (+12 st), Deep Voice (−3 st), Giant (−5 st), Demon (−10 st), Bass Boost |
| Horror | Possessed (−8 st), Creepy Whisper, Many Voices, Cursed Tape, Haunted Call, Insane, Haunted Room, Undead (−9 st), Creepy Doll (+4 st) |
| Character | Robot, Alien |
| Ambience | Stadium, Dreamy |
| Devices | Radio, Telephone, Megaphone |
| Kids | Cartoon, Mouse, Friendly Monster |

Pitch-shifting effects show how many **semitones (st)** they move the voice (②). Select an effect, preview it in the player, and click **Apply (③)**. **Normal** removes any effect.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Voice effects apply to the whole narration. To change the voice of a single scene, re-record that scene with a different voice instead.
